PencilMath is a free website of home and yard calculators, operated by Pipirig P. Pavel-Ionuț PFA, a sole proprietorship registered in Romania. This page explains what information the site handles, why, for how long, and what you can ask us to do with it. The short version: we have no accounts, no forms and no newsletter, and we don't sell personal information.
Who is responsible
The "controller" of the information described here, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, is Pipirig P. Pavel-Ionuț PFA, which operates PencilMath: CUI (tax id) 44029998, trade register no. F2021000536223. Write to hello@pencilmath.com about anything on this page.
Calculators
Calculators run entirely in your browser. Typing a number sends nothing to us. The numbers do go into the page address, so you can bookmark or share a result; when you or someone else opens such a link, the address — numbers included — reaches our server like any other page request (see server logs below). The numbers are measurements, not personal information, so don't put anything personal in a link you share.
Server logs
Like every web server, ours records standard access logs: IP address, time, page address requested, referring page and browser user agent. We use them only to keep the site secure and working (spotting attacks, broken links and errors), which is our legitimate interest. Logs are deleted automatically after about six weeks. The server is hosted in Germany (EU), and the hosting company stores the data on our behalf only.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with Umami, an analytics tool that runs on our own server, so the data isn't shared with any other company. Umami sets no cookies and doesn't store your IP address. We see totals only: which pages are read, which site you came from, approximate country and city, device type, screen size, browser and language.
To avoid counting one visit several times, Umami turns your IP address and browser into a code that can't be reversed to the address, and the formula changes every month. Knowing which calculators get used tells us what to fix and build next; that is our legitimate interest. Because nothing here identifies you, there is nothing to opt out of, but blocking the script /u/s.js in your browser stops it.
Advertising and cookies
This site shows no ads and sets no cookies. If that changes, this page will say so before it happens.
If you write to us, we receive your address and whatever you put in the message. We use it only to reply and, for a correction, to check and fix the number you reported. We keep messages only as long as we need them for that, and we never add you to a mailing list.
Who we share data with
No one buys data from us. Information leaves our hands only to our hosting company (which stores it for us), or when the law requires it, for example a valid order from a court or authority.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, the UK or another place with similar law, you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable format. Email hello@pencilmath.com; we reply within one month. Since the site has no accounts, tell us what to look for (for example, the email address you wrote from). You can also complain to a data protection authority — in Romania, the ANSPDCP, or the one where you live.
Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the right to know what we collect (this page), to ask for deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We don't sell personal information. We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
The site itself doesn't track you across other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off.
Children
The site is meant for adults planning home projects. It isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Every page is served over HTTPS, server access is limited to us, and the software is kept up to date. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we keep very little to begin with.
Links to other sites
Pages link to manufacturers, standards and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies; we don't control what they collect.
Changes to this policy
When the site starts or stops collecting something, this page changes first and the date at the top is updated. See also the terms of use.
